Well everyone, sorry for the late updates! Things have been pretty busy around here to say the least. PeWe Joseph is adjusting very well overall....although Mom has begun to tell our friends that the "honeymoon period" is over :) Things have been more stressful as we start school again in the middle of all the other adjustments. Nathan is having the hardest time, which is understandable. But lots of funny moments and laughter balance out the stress! God gives us strength and endurance as we need it. Now if only we could find time to sleep..... !
We've had fun taking PeWe Joseph to the store, the library and even to church. He seems to take it all in stride. He's got quite a bit of curiosity and loves "going in the car."
On the medical side of things, he went to a GI doc at Riley on Wednesday. We were hoping they would be able to give him a "Mic-key button," but that didn't happen. (Right now he has a tube that extends about 10in. outside his stomach; a mic-key button would make things easier to manage.) Hopefully he'll get one later on. The good news is that the doctors and technicians were really nice to PeWe and even let him push the buttons on the X-ray machine, which he enjoyed! The bad news is that we still don't know the extent of the damage to his esophagus. All we know is that anything that goes into his mouth doesn't get past collarbone-level. The next step for him will probably be surgery. Please pray with us that any surgery he has will allow him to eat normally. Ironically, his little world revolves around food. His favorites are chicken, rice and especially sausage....whenever we eat these items he yells "I want plenty! I eat it all!!" with a big grin on his face. He's definitely got a good sense of humor! It will be interesting to see where life leads in the next few months. Good thing God is always faithful.
